Committees

Get Involved. Committees and Volunteer Opportunities.

Volunteering is one of the best ways to build relationships, develop leadership skills, and shape the future of SMPS Maryland. Whether you have a few hours a month or want to take on a larger leadership role, there is a place for you here.

Our Committees and Initiatives

Education and Programs

The Education and Programs Committees plan the chapter’s educational, training, and client-focused events throughout the year. By identifying timely industry topics and areas of professional growth, the committees help deliver programs that are relevant, engaging, and valuable to members.

Membership

The Membership Committee promotes SMPS Maryland, welcomes new members, and encourages ongoing engagement within the chapter. The committee also supports membership recruitment, coordinates outreach efforts, and serves as a resource for current and prospective members.

Special Events

The Special Events Committee plans and coordinates the chapter’s signature social and networking events, including the annual kick-off, mixers, and year-end celebration. The committee manages themes, venues, and logistics to create memorable and successful experiences for attendees.

Sponsorship

The Sponsorship Committee builds and maintains relationships with chapter sponsors, helping them maximize the value of their support and engagement. The committee also promotes sponsor visibility and coordinates sponsor appreciation efforts throughout the year.

Chapter Liaison

The Chapter Liaison serves as a key connector between SMPS Maryland, other SMPS chapters, and peer A/E/C industry organizations. This role helps strengthen relationships, encourage collaboration, and identify opportunities for joint programs, shared initiatives, and broader engagement across the industry.

Young Member Liaison

The Young Member Liaison advocates for emerging professionals within SMPS Maryland and helps ensure the chapter remains relevant and welcoming to newer members. This role supports programs, networking, and mentorship opportunities tailored to young professionals and those early in their careers.

Get Involved

SMPS Maryland offers many ways for members and supporters to get involved through committee service, event support, and chapter initiatives. Volunteering is a great way to build relationships, develop new skills, expand your professional network, and play a meaningful role in the chapter’s success.

Whether you are interested in joining a committee, helping with a specific event, or contributing your time and expertise in other ways, we welcome your involvement and would be happy to help you find the right opportunity.
