Opportunities and Trends in K-12 Design
February 11, 2019
This program brought together 40 SMPS members and 66 non-members to discuss opportunities and trends in Maryland K-12 design. Facilitated by Joanna Hoffschneider, ALEP, the panel discussion was lively and fast-moving and touched on a multitude of topics.
The speakers each brought different insight and experience to the table, and together illustrated to the attendees the incredible value they each play within their organization and ultimately within the Maryland K-12 community. Joining us were:
- Merril Plait, Baltimore County Public Schools
- Carmina Perez-Fowler, Maryland Stadium Authority
- Holly Nelson, Frederick County Public Schools
- Seth Adams, Montgomery County Public Schools
- Alex Donahue, IAC
Speakers discussed the state of their county/building program, upcoming work, and best practices for AE teams to get in front of—and stay in front of—key players at each county. Among the trends discussed were the infamous the “21st Century Learning” ideals, school security and community engagement.
