The use of photography and videography is increasingly critical to create and promote the image and brand of any A/E/C firm – regardless of the firm’s size or areas of practice. More than ever, the integration of these tools to market your firm’s projects, people, and ideas differentiate your value propositions in a highly competitive environment.
At this workshop, attendees will learn how they can work with photographers, videographers, and others to plan and deliver successful results. Whether you are new to the A/E/C industry, or a veteran, the use of photography and videography – and now drones – are constantly changing. The process of getting a project photographed, creating a video to commemorate an important milestone, or using a drone, are important components of any marketer’s plan to maximize their firm’s brand and success.
Through this program, we will answer the following questions:
- When and how to begin the process of documenting a project, or another subject, via photography, videography, or the use of a drone?
- Which projects, ideas, or events merit this attention?
- What are the best practices and lessons learned that can help to guide successful execution?
To answer these questions – and more – the workshop features two leading pioneers of these tools in the A/E/C industry: Robert Benson and Jason Cheung.
Speakers:
Robert Benson is an award-winning photographer. His studio has a 20-year reputation for extraordinary images. Robert believes the essence of architectural photography is in the blending of ideas, philosophy, art and light. He delights in creating images that surprise, reveal and communicate an architect’s intentions and emotions. Highly collaborative in his approach, Robert is backed by a full-service studio. His work has been published in Architect, Architectural Record, New England Home, among many other publications, and he has been successfully helping his architectural clients win prestigious design awards. He is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP).
Jason Cheung serves as creative director and founder of Lost Note Productions LLC, a production company dedicated to visual storytelling. Lost Note has developed narrative videos for clients across numerous sectors, including the Lieber Institute for Brain Development, JBG Smith, University of Maryland, and Stanley Martin Homes. Jason believes that filmmaking is one of the most powerful tools to provide compelling narratives and emotions and left his career as an architect to follow this passion. Trained as an architectural designer and holding a master’s in architecture from the University of Maryland College Park, Jason translates this experience towards his disciplined design process. Jason is active in giving back to his community and has donated his services to a variety of nonprofits including campaigns for Sarah’s Hope, United Way of Central Maryland, and March of Dimes.
Schedule: The networking continental breakfast will be from 8:30 – 9:00 AM, and the presentation from Robert and Jason will begin at 9:00 AM and conclude at approximately 10:00 AM, allowing for 30 minutes of questions and answers.
