2019-2020 SMPS Maryland Board of Directors Call for Nominations
March 15, 2019
SMPS Maryland is now accepting nominations for positions on the Board of Directors for the term beginning September 1, 2019.
Download the Call for Nominations Package and Nomination Form: 2019-2020 SMPS BOD Nominations.
Nominations may be submitted by an individual (self-nominations are the most common method) or by a petition. Petition nominations must be signed by a minimum of 30 percent of the chapter membership as of April 15, 2019. The following lists eligibility requirements and descriptions of each board position. All positions are open to nominations for this term except President, Immediate Past President and those noted otherwise.
The Nomination and Election Process
Individual nominations will be evaluated by the Nominations and Elections Committee. The committee will then select a slate consisting of one qualified nominee for each open position or proposing co-chairs. It is the committee’s responsibility to select those candidates it believes represent the best balance for the board from among the qualified nominations received.
A petitioned nominee may be included in the slate of candidates selected by the Nominations and Elections Committee, but if not selected by the Committee the petitioned nominee shall automatically appear on a ballot along with the slated candidate if the petitioned nominee meets all eligibility requirements for the position being sought.
A ballot with the slate of candidates determined by the Nominations and Elections Committee plus the names of qualified candidates submitted by petition will be submitted to the membership by May 15. However, if no candidates are submitted by petition, the Secretary will declare the Nominating Committee’s slate of candidates elected and a membership ballot will not be issued.
All nominations must be submitted on the nomination form provided via link above. Please include all relevant business contact information and a brief statement outlining the candidate’s qualifications for the desired position. Nominations must be received by Kaitlin Pravetz, Chair of the Nominations and Elections Committee, by COB Monday, April 15, 2019.
If you have questions about the nomination and election process or about serving on the SMPS Maryland Board, please contact Kaitlin Pravetz, President-Elect, at 667.600.4356 or by email.
