With nearly 100 people in attendance, SMPS Maryland hosted its first Transportation Client panel at its new venue – Overhills Mansion in Catonsville, MD on November 14, 2013.
SMPS Maryland hosted its first ever prime/subconsultant team building panel discussion followed by a wine tasting. This unique program consisted of panelists from the A/E/C industry where they discussed the best practices for building strong teams that can deliver maximum value to clients. Attendees learned how project delivery methods, minority participation, funding sources, legislation and other factors affect the composition of teams. Following our panel discussion, a wine tasting took place allowing attendees to meet potential teaming partners, network with colleagues and taste fabulous wine.
The SMPS Maryland Annual Meeting was held on August 21st and consisted of a brainstorming exercise discussing potential future program and education events.
SMPS Maryland has been recognized with an Outstanding Award for Large Chapter in the annual Striving for Excellence Awards program, put on by the SMPS National organization. The Striving for Excellence (SFE) Awards recognize chapters for excellence in their management and service to members.
SMPS Maryland recognized its members’ achievements at our Year End event in June at the Engineer’s Club. Lisa Julian-Miller, CPSM and Director of Business Development at Henry Adams, was honored with the Blue Heron Award, which is not necessarily given every year and recognizes one member’s professional achievements throughout their career and their contribution to the industry.
SMPS Maryland put a team together to raise money and run (or walk) in the Red Devils annual 5K, Running with the Devils, held on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Goucher College. Thanks to everyone who supported the team, we beat our $2,000 fundraising goal by $120!! With the Chapter’s additional support of $1,000, we will be making a total donation of $3,120 to the The Red Devils, Inc. to support all they do for cancer patients and their families!
